Chicken Scratch

This is my first game ever! :)

Chicken Scratch was made for the Toy Box Jam 2025!! In this jam, you were only allowed to use premade assets (music, sprites, etc.) to create any game you wanted. I worked together with my dad to create a short and simple arcade game where you, the farmer,  search for your missing chickens and chase them into their coop! 

Objective: Find and chase at least 5 chickens into the coop

Controls

WASD or arrow keys to move

Left-Click to "check" hiding spots 

ESC to open Pause Menu

TIPS:

Snakes may be hiding in the bushes or trees and will attack the farmer. The farmer has 3 (technically 4) health points before they pass. 

Some trees will be empty, but most will contain a chicken! Chase them into the fence at the front of the coop to gain a point (and extra health if the farmer has less than 3 health points!) 

If the farmer ever becomes stuck, there is an option in the pause menu to reset the player without resetting your current progress.

There is an option to continue after you reach the goal of 5 chickens. Keep playing and see how many you can get!
